The Elevate SGV Leadership Program is designed to cultivate and enhance the leadership skills of community members, empowering them to make a positive impact on the growth and development of Sahuarita and Green Valley, AZ. The program focuses on community engagement, governance, and personal development, tailored to address the unique business and community needs of our region.
Program Goals
- Leadership: Equip participants with the knowledge and skills to become effective community leaders.
- Community Engagement: Foster a deeper understanding of our community and its opportunities.
- Local Governance: Provide insights into the structure and impact of local governance.
- Networking & Collaboration: Build strong connections among individuals committed to the region's success.
- Personal Growth: Encourage personal and professional development through mentorship and hands-on experiences.
Who Should Apply?
This program welcomes all Sahuarita and Green Valley residents, including:
- Emerging leaders and young professionals
- Community volunteers
- Local business owners or their staff
- Students and youth interested in civic engagement
Program Structure
- Duration: February to June 2025
- Participants: Limited to 12 in the inaugural program
Workshops & Seminars
Gain valuable insights on topics such as:
- Leadership Development: Master communication and community-focused leadership.
- Local Government 101: Learn the structure and roles of local governance.
- Community Engagement: Discover techniques to engage and empower community members.
Mentorship Program
- Pairing with experienced leaders and town officials.
- Regular guidance and support for personal and professional development.
Community Projects
- Collaborate in teams to identify and implement community improvement projects.
- Address specific local issues and make a tangible impact.
Networking Events
- Connect with local leaders, business owners, and community members.
- Participate in social events that foster collaboration and camaraderie.
Field Trips & Site Visits
- Explore local government offices, businesses, and organizations.
- Gain hands-on experience in community leadership roles.

- Orientation & Leadership Introduction: February 11
- Understanding Local Government: February 25
- Education System: March 11
- Freeport/Asarco Mining Community: March 25
- Community Health & Safety: April 8
- Sahuarita Food Bank/Nonprofits: April 22
- Senior Community: May 6
- Chamber/Business Community: May 20
- Graduation Ceremony: June 16 (evening at Sahuarita Town Hall)
Fee:
$435 (Scholarships available for those in need)

Applications are available online through the
GVS Chamber Website.
Interested participants should submit:
- A personal statement outlining their interest in the program.
- A resume highlighting relevant experience and community involvement.
- Two letters of recommendation from community members or local leaders.
